Perth Makers Market is an exclusively handmade only market South of the Swan River that makes its home at Heathcote Cultural Precinct in Applecross. All items that you will find at our market have been handcrafted by the stall holders themselves locally in WA. The only exception to this is our non-profit stalls who attend to raise awareness and fundraise for their causes.

"Our goal is to provide a platform for the talented, high quality handmade crafters that call Perth their home in a family focused, friendly location." - Erin Madeley

What makes Perth Makers Market so great is that you will never find something at one of our stalls that wasn’t made right here in our great state of Western Australia. Not only that, but we are actively assisting both new and emerging artists, as well as talented school students in breaking into the handmade marketplace.

Perth Makers Market operates a bit differently in how we select stallholders compared to other markets in Perth. Many markets around in Perth operate on a ‘first in best dressed’ approach, filling stalls as people apply. Some take permanent stallholders for an entire year which means new applicants can’t get in. Others operate from a mailing list, sending out invitations to those interested. We are different in that our applications are open to whomever is interested in applying. We have a closing date for applications and until that date passes, I don’t look at applications. Everyone who applies has equal opportunity to be accepted this way, provided they meet our standards.

Once the date has passed I look at applications from each category and select based on balance of market stalls and quality of application. For those categories where we receive far more applications than we can accept, for example candles and jewellery, we try and rotate through the stallholders who apply so that we can try and offer as many people as possible the opportunity to have a stall with us and provide variety to market visitors. The fact that we do not guarantee acceptance to applicants can be very frustrating for them, however from a market visitor perspective this is ideal as it means that visitors can come to every single event we have and know that we will not just have the same stallholders for each event. Even when we do accept stallholders for more than one event, we do not place stallholders in the same location each market, but rather move stallholders to different areas of the market. It gives opportunity to experience a different location for the stallholder, and once again provides variety for market visitors.

We are also very driven to help support new and emerging artists and students by offering discounts to these groups. New and emerging artists receive a 30% discount on their stall fees and students receive a 50% discount, regardless of the stall size that they have. This is so that we can help foster and grow the Perth handmade community, and make it possible for some makers who are just starting out to afford to attend our events, which are more expensive than others within the Perth area. To my knowledge we are the only market to offer this. Between these discounts and our free stalls that we provide to community and non-profit organisations we offer over $16,000 worth of support over the course of the 6 markets held each year at Heathcote.

Perth Makers Market is proud to be partnered with the City of Melville to bring the local community a beautiful event location and an opportunity for local residents to participate in a handmade market designed to give back to the community through fundraising opportunities with non-profit organisations. With strong ties to the community and a focus on giving back, Perth Makers Market is unique.

Fall in love with the unique pieces that are passionately and individually hand-crafted in an idyllic location while your kids play on the playground. While you’re here why not stop for lunch at the Bluewater Grill or take a look at the on-site gallery? Come wander the stalls, grab a coffee and take in all that the Perth handmade community has to offer.
